A James River Shoreline

Williamsburg,VA

Location:

Type:

Private Residence

As a Licensed Landscape Architect (LLA) and Certified Chesapeake Bay Professional (CBLP), I am frequently approached by property owners who want to develop the areas that are directly next to the bay or its rivers. With my background as an LLA and CBLP, I can utilize my training to help clients who have properties which usually lie in the Resource Protected Area of the water body - any property development is excluded except establishing native planting, particularly when lawn is within the Resource Protected Area. I have helped re-educate my clients from ‘lawn is good to water’ to ‘meadows or planted buffer areas that are good to the water’, which helps reduce the affluence of pollutants into the bay and rivers. The design of this site on the James River has an upland buffer planting and a shoreline restoration component.
